Trapizoid’s Road to Double Victory

July 2007: Niagara Falls, Ontario

There was an opening field of 90 players. The starting setup was 18 tables of 5 players. A matrix system of scores was used which allotted matrix points based on placement at the completion of each game. The points awarded were:
1st..45 2nd..30 3rd..20 4th..10 5th..5
In the first 2 rounds of play each entrant played 2 games at one table. For round 2 each player moved to a different table where 2 more games were played. After Round 2 the matrix points were totaled. The top 48 matrix scores continued on to round 3. The cut-off matrix score was 90. Vince scored 90 just squeaking into the next round with a placement of 48.
Round 3 consisted of 12 tables of 4 players. The players at each table played 2 games with the total point scores to count. Only the top 2 score advanced to the next round. The scores at Trapizoid's table were:
590...520...410...410
Trapizoid's 520 gave him second place and a spot in the 4th round of play.
Round 4 consisted of 6 tables of 4 players. Two games were played with only the top scorer at each table moving on to the Final Six. Trapizoid's table posted scores of 550...520...420...380 with Trapizoid the winner.
The Final 6 table consisted of 6 players. The players at each table played 2 games with the total point scores to count. The final six scores were;

1. Vince Iannuzzi (trapizoid) 510
2. Rick Schulz 490
3. Mark McIntosh.(wizard_major) 440
4. Mike Stine.(Denny Crane) 420
5. Marko Sapiano.(mactonight) 340
6. James Penn 320

There was an opening field of 100 players. The first 3 rounds consisted of 20 tables of 5 players. A matrix system of scores was used which allotted matrix points based on placement at the completion of each game. The matrix points awarded were:
1st 46 2nd 33 3rd 21 4th 12 5th 4
In each of rounds 1-2-3 each entrant played 1 game at 3 separate tables with different opponents each time. Trapizoid’s matrix scores were; 12, 46, 46 for a total of 104.
The top 60 matrix scores continued on to the 4th round. The cut-off score was 62. Vince was well above the minimum score needed to advance to the 4th round.
Round 4 consisted of 12 tables of 5 players. The players at each table played 2 games with the total point scores to count. Only the top 2 score advanced. The final five scores at Trapizoid’s table were 500...470...430...380...320 with Trapizoid placing 2nd with 470. This put him through to the 5th Round.
Round 5 consisted of 6 tables of 4 players. The players at each table played 2 games with the total point scores to count. Only the top score advanced to the Final Six. The final four scores at Trapizoid’s table were 650..510..450..270 with Trapizoid topping the pack, putting him through to the Final Six.
The Final 6 table consisted of 6 players. The players at each table played 2 games with the total point scores to count. The final six scores were;
