A Little Learning is a Dangerous Thing.
In school it is stressed that ('s) indicates ownership. Unfortunately many apply this rule holus bolus.
E.g. The cat drank it's milk. (WRONG)
In Wizard it is stressed that one should never go down alone. Unfortunately many apply this rule slavishly too.
The rule should only be applied to your own advantage. What is the point of knocking down a player already even lower on the scoreboard than yourself?
I recently had a player in 2nd place who was already down 1 trick, play to knock me down from 5th to 6th place but by taking the 2nd down trick he
dropped himself from 2nd to 4th. If he had gone down just 1 trick he would have got 3rd place. This was on the last hand.
You must be judicious in applying the dictum, "Never go down alone".
