JARVIS VARIANT
JARVIS VARIANT
JESTER - a Wizard card game variant (Jarvis variant) I would like to propose a variant of the Wizard game and also offer the following rule changes to
be considered a variant play option. For explanation: a round is a single card play from all players. A hand is every card play from all players,
whether it is the first turn with a single card from each person or turn eight where each player has eight cards making eight rounds in that single
hand. A turn is the numbered play that determines the number of cards each player gets. There are rounds in each hand and a hand in each turn. The
wizard deck is shuffled and each player is offered a single card on turn one (a single round within a single hand) and two cards (two rounds within a
single hand) on turn two as is regular in WIZARD. The scoring is the same as in WIZARD, with bids getting 20 points for being correct and 10 points
for each bid made, and -10 points for each bid over or below the bid offered by the player. The biggest difference is that instead of a trump card
that is set off to the side and the first player setting the suit for the current round, after the cards have been dealt the next card is flipped and
set on top of the deck to set the suit for the entire hand (No extraneous trump card). Also the first player is the person to the right of the dealer
and is the first player for each round of the entire hand. The next turn makes the player to the left of the previous first player the new first
player for the next turn for the complete hand, and the first player changes to the person to the left of the last first player of the previous hand.
Another change is the JESTER becomes much more powerful and changes the current rounds suit to the next card played, which also negates the next card
played as a valid card (the played card cannot win and has no value except as setting the new suit, unless it is a wizard, where the wizard is worth 1
bid and the suit becomes wizard, but since a wizard has been played all further wizards played this round have no value and does not count as a bid).
If the last player in a round plays a JESTER it has no effect. The JESTER also has the ability to be the suit, When the JESTER is the current suit
(the hand is dealt for the turn and the JESTER is flipped over as the suit) the first players cards are all invalid and cannot win any bid as they
only set the rounds current suit, unless the card is a wizard which is worth 1 bid and since a wizard has been played all further wizards played this
round have no value and does not count as a bid. When the WIZARD is the suit (the hand is dealt for the turn and the wizard is flipped over as the
suit) the first wizard played is worth 2 bids and all other wizards that round have no value. The WIZARD does not win as in regular play, but does not
affect play and only counts as a single bid, unless WIZARD is the suit where it is worth 2 bids.
