The Role of the DIRECTOR
Please Note: Items 14-15-16 from the ONLINE Tournament Rules are copied below.
14: The decision to postpone or continue a tournament at a later time is solely up to the Director whose decision is final. His decision may be based on a vote by the players.
15. Regardless of the stated rules situations may arise which are not fully covered or which render the rules unfair due to unique circumstances. At such times it will be the Director's responsibility to provide the fairest solution possible based on the best information available.
16. All disputes or questions involving any aspect of the tournament or play shall be referred to the tournament director whose decision is final. The Director may change his decision at a later time if new information is brought forward that he deems to change the dynamics. Any appeal with new information must be made to the Director.
The Directors give their time freely and are critical for the ongoing success of the online tournaments. The reason for making the Director's decision final was to avoid second-guessing.
Nevertheless, the Directors must adhere to the rules as written. When situations arise that are not clearly covered by the rules the Director is free to make a judgement call.
