The dealer deals then turns over the trump.
He then picks up the card he turned over and discards one from his hand...he may throw it back if it is to his advantage...no one knows his choice.
(We use kings from a regular deck to indicate trump so no one forgets what it is.)
When a Jester or Wizard is turned up the dealer not only gets to pick up but also gets to make the trump of his choice...(We did not like No
Trump..too easy.)
We make sure that the number of cards in the deck is evenly divisible by the number of players. To make it more challenging we add 2 Jesters and 2
Wizards which gives us 6 each at this point. Then we take out the four 2 cards to keep the deck at 60.
We always play Hidden Bids. We use small markers (from another game) to give us 4 sets (or more) of markers from 0 to 8. (No one has ever bid more
than 8 as yet.) You must put out your bid once the dealer has discarded and everyone has looked at his/her cards. The bid must be turned over to see
for the marker to record what he bid and what he got.
